Top 5 Best Laptops For Teachers 2021
If you want to get the perfect laptop for teaching then there are many things for it.
We will list some of the things you have to look for here and leave all the details in the last section in which we will teach you what you need to know before buying a laptop at the store or on websites. your area.
Type of Teachers
Before we finish this section I just want to go over some things that may seem very clear to you but I still want you to keep this in mind:
Classroom Teaching: Weight and battery don’t matter here, because there are outlets available all the time and you’ll only be lecturing and staying in your office.
Physical Education: It is very rare for a PE teacher to worry about computers because now everything can be done on the phone, but if you are interested in a laptop, check out Surface Pro. See if it helps.
Projector: There are still teachers using acetate papers and projectors to go through the steps of a problem and rewrite notes. So let me just say that many of my peers who are like this are using tablets or small convertible laptops instead, as recommended in this post.
If you’re not writing anything that requires precision like math’s equations, however, you might be fine with something like this. I am
Online Teaching: Since we are now in the world of online teaching, what you should see on a laptop is that it has a webcam. Now it can be very stupid to suggest too but you are taking extra precautions as many new models are turning off the cameras altogether and protesting against having a larger display inside the thinner bezel. It also helps if the camera has a good resolution to go with it.

You need a decent CPU. Getting one is not complicated these days just make sure that whatever CPU you finish is recent:
Raizen or Intel Core of 8th / 10th / 11th Generation. I would greatly promote using the Core i3 and Ryzen 3 processors including the Core i5 moreover Ryzen 5 as the latest resort. Why are you supporting a weak processor? Saving you need to do any engineering stuff on your laptop or play the most advanced AAA games when you don’t want a super-fast processor.
I’m not favoring Ryzen processors for budget and performance purposes, but they can be rare these days.
8GB of minimum RAM so you never run out of virtual memory!
You do not need to get 16GB. If you are looking at Chromebook / MacBooks then 4GB may be enough.
Full HD + biggest display you can afford (15-17).
These will make multitasking very easy. You will have such a large amount of space to keep all this stuff in one place that it would be happy to work with it.
Keys should have a pad if possible but more importantly, they should be backlit.
What about the quality of the keyboard, I want to type faster on this thing?
Ok, which is usually found on premium laptops (+ $ 700), but you can also find them on cheap laptops if you know what to look for (see the last section).
Ports are important for physical category settings, but if you’re going to teach online classes, they don’t matter at all. Also, all laptops require all ports except the MacBook and even in those rare scenarios, you can always get an adapter for 5 bucks.
Possibly the most important feature. The internet is going to be congested for a while and you want to reduce every speed for which you have paid. So make sure you get either the latest WiFi protocol, WiFi AX, or the earlier: WiFi AC.
In the past, storage space was not a big deal. But now with a lot of lectures being recorded and a lot of videos being shared, it might be a good idea to get 256GB if it becomes too expensive then you will be able to fix it with 128GB.
Having an SSD is a requirement! You don’t want to bang your head against the screen until your laptop starts to slow down severely.
Last but not least, you want a laptop that is easy to clean. Although such customized laptops are just coming out, something must be kept in mind as long as the laptop is purchased.
Aluminum-manufactured laptops are easy to sanitize. (Premium laptop)
Those that also have short travel distance keyboards (almost no space between keys, so it’s easy to wipe all keys with alcohol).
Full HD webcams are super helpful but very few laptops have them (they are all HD webcams). Buying a different camera may be a better idea for now!
Anyway, I have gathered this shortlist of laptops that you are sure of what you teach and how you teach what you teach.
The most important specialties are listed in all of them and some of these will contain everything we have recommended.
How to buy the most reliable laptop for teachers
I wrote this example back when COVID19 was not a difficulty. So here it is said that amazing things connect to a regular classroom environment and not the online thing we are working on proper now. But here everything should furthermore be beneficial which we grow to teach next year.
How much RAM you have is more important than the processor you are getting.
Having enough RAM will have a greater impact on performance and therefore on your workflow. So if you ended up here because your laptop can’t keep up with everything you have nowadays, you can avoid buying a new laptop just by getting more RAM (assuming you don’t already have 8GB is).
4 GB: If you have 4 GB, you will be more likely to slow down while browsing with tons and running and opening more than 3-4 non-web-based applications. Otherwise, you can be fine with it. If you use Windows S or OSX (Apple) or Chromebook then you will be fine with 4GB.
8 GB: It will never slow you down no matter what you do with your computer. Of course, this is an exaggeration, but you obey me. You really shouldn’t get Windows 10 on a 4GB laptop, it sometimes slows down to a crawl.
16GB: Completely unnecessary and should be avoided but sometimes it is difficult because a lot of good laptops come with either 12 or 16GB.
Getting a good Wi-fi card is very important now. Everyone who lives at home and on the Internet will sometimes be saturated with the number of people using Zoom.
All laptops come with a Wi-Fi card that allows you to connect to your router wirelessly. However, there are many types of Wi-Fi cards on laptops.
But the main thing to keep in mind is that by the time you get a modern laptop, you should be able to get a capable Wi-Fi card.
There are two types of Wi-Fi cards on modern laptops:
802.11AC: Most modern laptops use this protocol. The only major drawback is that it is inefficient in congested locations and bandwidth is not used efficiently. I am talking about the stadium, concert, auditorium, etc.
802.11AX: This is the latest and found on very rare laptops. Many do not have it because the gain over 802.11AC is not as important. This fixes the problem with bandwidth sharing inefficiency.
Any type of wifi is fine. If you go for some other type then you will start reducing internet speed. Because other protocols are not as good at catching faint signals when a you are far away from your router.
Teachers like myself usually carry tons of books, files, presentations, and docs on our laptops. I am talking in thousands but even with the number of files, storage is never really a problem for teachers because those files do not take more than a gigabyte and the lowest capacity you can get from a laptop is 128 Is GB.
Let’s run some calculations:
Other software: 10GB
50 books + files: 1 GB
Therefore, you will be able to use only about 30% of the lowest capacity found on the laptop.
However … if the video is a regular thing for you and you are not only recording but downloading a lot of videos. Again:
Let’s say you got 300MB each 100x 1h video: ~ 30GB.
Now it will start filling more than 50% of the capacity of 128GB storage drive. But if you set up the game and have a library of music to maintain your purity:
AAA Game ~ 30 GB
x1000 mp3 songs (3.5 MB each) ~ 3.5 gigs
Now you start being over 70% and this is not good!
Free space is important!
A good rule of thumb is to make sure that your computer does not start slow for whatever reason it needs to fill up to 70% of its stores. Anything higher will start taking a toll on how fast your processor can find a particular piece of data and start slowing down.
So although you can be fine with 128GB if you are a gamer or any other heavy software that weighs more than 30GB then you will need at least 256GB storage drive.
SSD vs HDD
Storage capacity may not be a big issue if you see the three-letter “HDD” next to the storage description. Although they have 1TB (1000GB of space), they stand for three-letter hard disk drives and they run slower than SSDs.
SSDs are for solid-state drives, they have no moving parts and they read/write data in a completely different way than HDDs and they do it up to x17 faster. It does not get the one-for-one option at this point. Most modern laptops will have a single, problem is that their storage capacity is less than that of HDD
You should still opt for an SSD even if the storage capacity (the lowest is 128GB) can present a problem as they have many advantages:
No moving parts. Reduced hard drive failure probability.
Low energy consumption. Since there are no moving parts, they consume less energy which makes your battery last longer.
They read data faster: “SATA III” SSDs The slowest type of “SSD” will still read data many times faster than an HDD and boot Windows 10 in less than 10 seconds.
